Lisbeth Vargas Jaimes is a cannabis advocate and entrepreneur. She is a powerhouse video marketing expert who brings together her passion for storytelling and community building. In this episode she shares her bold resume of experiences- founding CannaMarketingU which helps black and brown cannabis professionals stand out online, being a partner with CannaTech Ventures, and more. I had the privilege of meeting Lisbeth at the 2023 Latinas in Cannabis Summit where she spoke about Video Marketing sharing all her tips and perspective on the platforms. Today we talk about more of her best tips for keeping up with the cannabis marketing evolution and maximalizing your online presence, how she stays organized, maintains productivity, breaks out of creative blocks, and more. Prepare to be inspired to update your LinkedIn because that’s exactly what I did after this recording! Without further adieu, let’s sesh!

Host: How do you break through a creative block?

Lisbeth: Time journaling and doodling, set a 15-minute timer. Just get your thoughts out! Especially if you're frustrated creatively or just dealing with things outside that are impacting your creativity. Oftentimes, 15 minutes of just getting my feelings out helps me a lot.

Host: Share a quote that motivates you.

Lisbeth: So this is going to show my English literature background, but I love this poem by John Milton. It's called Paradise Lost, which is some biblical reference, but the quote itself is, “The mind is its own place. In itself, it can make a hell out of heaven and a heaven out of hell.” That quote has always motivated me since I read it in 2010 because it is about your perspective and how you frame things that dictates the quality of your experience.

Host: What are three things you love about your job?

Lisbeth: The community aspect, getting to meet so many different people. I also love the ingenuity in the cannabis space and getting to learn about different things that are happening. I will absolutely say the flexibility of being my own boss on my own terms.

Host: Who is a woman in cannabis who inspires you?

Lisbeth: Jessica Gonzalez out of New Jersey. She's doing amazing things in the cannabis trademark space, but also as an advocate and community leader. What really excites me is seeing women who came up with me in 2017 - 2019, now getting their recognition, but also the years of work really having that impact in all the different markets.

Host: What are your predictions for the future of cannabis marketing?

Lisbeth: The evolution of storytelling, virtual reality, as well as different experiences online and in person. I think there is going to be a lot of blending of communities and being able to create those experiences from having a community online and translating it to an event and experience in person.

Host: Where can people find you, keep up with you online, and book your services?

Lisbeth: I'm @thecannamarketer on Instagram as well as LinkedIn. LinkedIn is slept on in the cannabis industry. You can learn more about my consulting services at Cannamarketingu.com.
