The Art Of Building A Passion-Driven Business With Munisa Ceramica
Isabela is the owner of Munisa Ceramica. She grew up in Mexico and is inspired by the colors, shapes, and histories that you see in Mexican art. After falling in love with making ceramics, she started her line of clay smoking accessories, fruit shaped pipes with floral accents that are gorgeous and functional. Her ceramics are colorful, feminine, and are a statement addition to any stoner's pipe collection. Like many artists, Isabella wasn't sure if people would care to buy her art, but now her shop is regularly sold out and she is steadily building her clay empire.
Host: This might be a hard question, but which fruit pipe is your personal favorite?
Isabela: Yeah, it's like picking your favorite child. I have a favorite in every batch! Coconut is just my current favorite because I've been thinking about it for many, many months and yeah, the coconut is the winner right now. Also the peach, my signature pipe. It's the one that got me started.
Host: Describe what being a business owner is like in three words.
Isabela: Yes, first of all, it's many words, but I think: hard work, multitask, and liberating. There's such a sense of liberation and freedom when you run the show.
Host: Who’s your dream person to sesh with?
Isabela: When I read this question, I was thinking of famous people, but you know what, the honest answer is my mother, because she has changed so much the way she feels towards cannabis since I started this business. She's still wrapping her head around the idea that I sell pipes and bongs for a living, but before this, she was one of those people who thought weed could kill you from an overdose. So now, she's studying this world and I'm really proud of that. It's helping her with many physical issues that she has had. I'm excited that one of these days I'm gonna finally smoke with her here in LA on a beach and just have a whole different conversation from before. She is barely doing gummies and stuff like that. And last time she came to visit She was like, let's smoke, but I didn't feel ready, but one of these days it's going to happen and it's going to be really satisfying to just smoke with my mom.
Host: What is your favorite song to throw clay to?
Isabela: This is a really hard question because I am big on music. I'm a big fan of music and I listen to many different things every day. I can tell you the artist that I'm listening to right now. His name is Jules and he’s an African producer, so he makes all these low African beats, which is the best music for a studio because it's no lyrics, it's just beats. It's really nice and that's what I've been listening to these days. I listen to a lot of instrumental music when I'm throwing.
Host: What’s your biggest dream for your creative cannabis career?
Isabela: Well, my biggest dream is to have my own weed brand with all the fruit flavors and all the packaging being so colorful. A whole brand of edibles that is just fruit-related. That’s something that has been in my mind since I started this and I know it's hard to get there, also expensive but, that's the dream.
I'm trying to do things slowly and focus right now on this dream as it's getting bigger. And then after that is said and done, I can move to that. It would be amazing to have a little pack of cute cannabis with a pipe that I made. It would be a dream!
Host: Where can people find Munisa Ceramica online and shop your pipes?
Isabela: They can find it on my website, munisaceramica.com. Also mainly on Instagram @munisaceramica you can see all the process videos and when/where I'm going drop the newest collection.
