Content Is King With Cannabis Photographer Krystell Gongora

Krystell is a cannabis photographer from Tijuana, Mexico, who captures flower content for brands like Dove and Grenade in Los Angeles. She's been featured in Voyage LA Magazine and is a champion for female empowerment with her self-love photo series that she does regularly to network and help encourage women to remember their power. Krystell is all about growing her business by showing up and proving her worth in this male-dominated space.

Host: So what is your favorite song or music to listen to while editing?

Krystell: My favorite song to listen to while editing is definitely one called Moscow, which is not out there. One of my bosses, his name is Jor El, and he made it. He sent me a sample, and since then I'm like, okay, this song really makes me want to edit all day!

Host: What is your least favorite part of photography?

Krystell: I take a lot of pictures. A lot. So when I'm shooting a girl or whatever it is, I sometimes take 300 or more than 300 shots. So the selection is my least favorite part. I love editing, but selection, that's my least favorite.

Host: What are your top three photography tools that you can't live without other than your camera?

Krystell: This one is hard because I'm a natural light photographer. I don't use anything, just my camera, but I was thinking about some tools that I use for dry flower is the light. I actually have it right here and a mirror, which I put the dry flower here, and then I take the photo. I think that will be it. I really don't use anything at all. Not even with models. Only the camera.

Host: Since we're both in L. A., where is your favorite spot for fire Mexican food?

Krystell: Okay, I really got this really, really good spot that is called Escuela Taqueria. Oh my god, I swear, it's the best tacos! I don't usually eat pork, but this is the only place I eat pork. And you really have to try it, or anyone that is listening right now, go to Escuela Taqueria and try the tacos over there.

Host: Describe your work sesh lifestyle in three words.

Krystell: Always unexpected. I never know what the next week is going to be like.

Oh, yeah, three words! Unexpected, creative, chill. That's the fun about being a photographer too. It really is unexpected. You have to go with the flow or think on your feet. I love that.

Host: Where can people follow, check out your work, and book you online?

Krystell:  Instagram is @krystellgongora.
